I am one of Jan's older students having returned to driving because of my husbands ill-health. I took my Driving Test 20 years ago when driving techniques and road conditions were much different. I had had a bad experience with my choice of Instructor and although I passed 2nd attempt I never wanted to drive again. Circumstances have led me to try again and I have been fortunate enough to have Jan as my Instructor, I am gradually emerging as a safe, confident driver under Jan's tuition, a far cry from the person who presented herself on lesson 1, unable to stop shaking and terrified of what lay ahead.
I have found Jan to be an understanding, fair and excellent Driving Instructor and would recommend her to anyone thinking of taking driving lessons and especially to those people who are as nervous as I was.

My husband decided to book me driving lessons for christmas. Wow! What a nice surprise! The only thing is I have had lessons with two driving instructors and they were both beyond your wildest nightmares!!! I met my new instructor with major reservations, as you can imagine. I'd already had lessons where instructors had made me sit on my left hand ( I'm left handed) and try to drive with my right hand and another instructor who had a camera in the car and took pictures of anyone breaking the 'highway code'.
To say I was nervous was a major understatement!!!
However I agreed to meet with Jan and discuss my needs!! and being an older lady they were many. Jan fully understood and accepted what I had already been through and made me feel 'normal' instead of feeling the exception I began to feel that I could drive and was able to pass my test!!

While speaking to Jan, and after many lessons I now feel I can drive and am capable passing 'the test' believe me this is no mean feat!!I am an older lady and extremely nervous, as well as not believing in my own capabilities. I may come across to many people that I meet as a confident, outgoing person and manage to arrange, co-ordinate and manage lots of events and meetings but driving is my Achilles Heel.

If you want to learn to drive you will need to go a long way to meet a better, more supportive, patient, understanding and competent driving instructor than Jan!!!

I have had 3 different driving instructors and to be honest not been impressed with any of them. I lack confidence in my driving ability and because of this have failed my test 4 times!! I always tensed up and could never relax with anybody and hated going for my lessons.

Since I have been learning with you Jan, I have really begun to enjoy driving, I look forward to my lessons and can't wait to pass. You have gently pushed me and encouraged me to do the best I can and I think we can both say that notices in my driving now.
